World Cup hosts Qatar to play tune-ups in European qualifying group

World Cup hosts Qatar will play tune-up games in one of Europe’s qualifying groups for the 2022 finals, Europe’s ruling body UEFA said on Tuesday. UEFA said that Qatar would be placed in qualifying group A made up of European champions Portugal, Serbia, Ireland, Luxembourg and Azerbaijan, starting with a March 24, 2021 game in Luxembourg. The Asian champions are to gain experience for the big event and will play all 10 games in Europe. No points are awarded in the games.
