What We Know About Brittney Griner’s Detention in Russia

By Ben Pickman The Mercury center has been in custody since mid-February, when she was arrested on drug charges outside of Moscow. Mercury star center Brittney Griner will go on trial Friday in Russia, where she has been detained for more than four months after being arrested at an airport outside of Moscow on drug charges. On Monday, a Russian court ordered Griner to remain in custody for the duration of her trial, and her detention was extended to Dec. 20,the Associated Press reported.
